Greetings
once again from Oat Central.
Warm weather here... although
that's
pretty much expected in Nashville in July.
Things are
hoppin' at the moment. In the studio, producer
Steve Haggard
is finishing
up the Wild Oats Records debut project for Cathleen,
a really
talented
singer/songwriter from Germany,
who made the long trip from
her hometown
of Leipzig to work with our team here in Nashville.
Speaking
of our own Steve Haggard
-- a man of many talents -- we have
just released
his long-awaited
new CD, Love Conquers All, and it is truly
a superb
album. Steve is also working on his first
book (!!), and recently
began co-hosting
a weekly radio program
here in Nashville. (To view the
very nice
video of Steve's song "Ghost Town", just click
here.)
Happy
Anniversary to us!! One
of the summer's highlights so far was
Oatapalooza...
the big event in celebration of the 20th
Anniversary of
Wild Oats
Records. (20 years... amazing!!)
This outdoor bash was held
on June
28th... and featured a lot of grillin', boilin' of shrimp, swimmin',
drinkin',
and guitar pickin'. A very good time
was had by all.
One of the
longtime mainstays of our Oat artist roster, none other than
Garry Jackson,
is back in Tennessee after a successful tour in France.
His current
Oat CD is the excellent Something's Got A Hold On Me,
and he
has already begun working on his next Wild Oats Records CD.
(Steve
Haggard is producing, as usual.) Garry returns
to Europe this fall.
Meanwhile,
another first-rate Oat artist and good friend, singer/songwriter
Glenn French,
was in Nashville not too long ago, finishing up his next Oat
CD, set
for release later this summer. (Steve Haggard
produced, Randall
Merryman
engineered. (The pair also worked on Glenn's
current Wild Oats
Records
CD, the excellent Timeless, which has been getting a great
response
both in
the USA and overseas.)
The next
edition of our ever-popular monthly musical event, the fabled
Oat
Songwriter Showcase, will take place on Wednesday,
August 13th.
As usual,
it'll be held at the Commodore Grille here in Nashville, and --
as usual
-- we'll have some great music... and some serious socializing!
Kimberly
King, Steve Haggard and Joel
Alan Lehman will be performing.
One of our
favorite artists, Virginia Rao,
was here at ol' Oat Central again,
completing
her new album. (Steve Haggard produced, Randall Merryman
engineered.)
The CD, Virginia Rao, is really
good... and is now available.
Did you
miss the "2nd Annual Wild
Oats Records Croquet Tournament,
Horseshoes
Fest, Drinkathon, Cookout & Jam Session
last
fall?... it was
held on
the grounds of the scenic Chateau d'Oat. Click
here for photos.
We'd like
to welcome the
newest Wild Oats Records artist: a fine singer/
songwriter
from Franklin, Tennessee, named David R. Smith.
He's just
finished
his first Oat project, a two-song CD single, and is a very talented
guy. (David
also performed at our April Oat Songwriter Showcase.)
Steve
Haggard, Joel Alan Lehman & The Nashville All-Stars recorded
a live
CD at Nashville's Cadillac Ranch recently. Haggard
& Lehman
also
team up
for European touring every year, with 2007 highlighted by their
appearance
at the Visagino festival in Lithuania...
where Steve, Joel and
their stellar
Nashville All-Stars band (featuring Oat artist, Mike Goroll,
this time
around) brought down the house before
an enthusiastic crowd
of more
than 20,000. View some Visagino
video here.
Look out
for Karo, a fine
singer from Finland who first recorded here
at Oat
Central in 2007. His new CD single is very
cool, rockin' stuff!

Last but
not least, we'd like to congratulate our own Steve
Haggard on his
re-election
to the
Board of Directors
of Sister Cities of Nashville, a great
non-profit
organization here in town devoted to cultural, educational and
commercial
exchange between Nashville and its sister cities worldwide.
That's it
until next time !! May all your oats be wild !!
